The promise
Your statement never leaves your phone.
Most apps upload your statement to their servers to read it. Pesa Recap doesn't. Opening the PDF, unlocking it, reading every transaction and drawing your cards all happen right here, in your browser.
Stays on your phone
Your statement PDF and its password
Your name and email, and your phone number unless you pay with it
Every transaction: amounts, balances, dates and receipt numbers
The people you send money to, and their numbers
Read by your browser, held in memory, and gone when you close the tab.
Reaches our server
The kinds of transactions on your statement, like “airtime purchase”, with people, phone numbers and amounts taken out, and the shops and paybills you paid: their number and the name M-PESA printed
Rounded facts for your captions, like “KES 12,000” or “35%”
Anonymous counts, like “a recap was made”, with no ID attached, and none at all if your browser asks not to be tracked
If there's a charge, the M-PESA number you pay with, for the payment prompt
Never an exact amount, a date, a person, or your own details.
How it works
Three steps. About a minute.
Step 1
Get your statement
Request a full statement in the M-PESA app or on *334#. Safaricom emails you the PDF and texts you its password.
Step 2
Drop it in
Your phone opens it and reads every transaction, right here in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, not even the password.
Step 3
Share the best bits
Swipe through your cards, hide any you like, and post the rest to your WhatsApp status.
What's in your recap
Your money story, one card at a time.
Up to nine cards picked from your statement, each ready for your status. Which ones you get depends on how you use M-PESA.
Money in and out
What landed on your line, and what went back out.
Top category
Where most of your spending went.
Favourite spot
The business you keep going back to.
Your people
How many people you sent money to.

Your busiest hour and day of the week.
Streaks

M-PESA charges
What the transaction fees added up to.
How you pay
Send money, paybill, till or cash: which one wins.
And the big one: your money personality
The last card sums you up. Which one are you?
- The Side Hustler
- The Family Bank
- The Cash King
- The Bill Boss
- The Cashless Shopper
- Always Online
- The Saver
- The All-Rounder
Compare with a friend
Swap codes and see how your money habits line up. A code carries your personality and rounded habits, never an amount or a name.
You're in control
You decide what gets shared.
Your cards are images made on your phone. Nothing goes anywhere until you tap share, and even then, only what you chose.
Amounts start hidden
Every amount shows as KES ••• until you choose to reveal it, card by card.
No names, ever
No person or business is named on a card, so your cards never give anyone away.
Private stays private
Cards about betting, health or giving show only on your screen unless you choose to share them.
Gone when you close the tab
Nothing stays on your phone unless you save a copy, and your statement never reached us to begin with.
Questions
Good questions, straight answers.
Does Pesa Recap cost anything?
There's no sign-up. When there's a charge, the price is shown after your statement is read on your phone and before your cards, and you pay it by M-PESA. It covers what making your recap costs us, such as the AI that writes your captions. If your statement can't be read, you're never asked to pay. Pesa Recap is made by ZuriScore.
Do you upload my statement?
No. Your statement is opened and read by your browser, on your phone, and is never sent to us or anyone else. To sort your transactions, our server gets the kinds of transactions on it, with every person, phone number, account number and amount taken out, and the shops and paybills you paid. Rounded totals for your captions and anonymous counts are the only other things it receives. How Pesa Recap works
Why does it ask for my statement's password?
Safaricom locks statements with a password it sends you by SMS. Your browser uses it to open the PDF on your phone. The password is never sent anywhere.
How do I get my M-PESA statement?
Request a full statement in the M-PESA app or by dialling *334#. Safaricom emails it to you as a PDF and sends its password by SMS. Pick a period of at least a month.
Which statements work?
A personal M-PESA statement PDF, as Safaricom emails it, covering at least 28 days and no bigger than 10 MB. Business statements for tills and paybills aren't supported.
Who sees my cards?
Only the people you share them with. Your cards are images made on your phone. Amounts show as KES ••• until you choose to reveal them, no person or business is named, and sensitive cards stay private unless you add them.
Is anything saved when I'm done?
Only if you ask. Your statement and everything made from it live in the page's memory and are gone when you close the tab. Nothing is saved on your phone unless you choose to keep a copy of your cards, and your statement was never on our server to begin with.
Is Pesa Recap part of Safaricom?
No. Pesa Recap is made by ZuriScore and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Safaricom. M-PESA is a trademark of Safaricom PLC.
What is ZuriScore's full M-PESA report?
A separate, paid ZuriScore service with a detailed look at your spending and income. Unlike Pesa Recap, it uploads your statement to make the report. Nothing from your recap goes there.
Ready to rewind your money?
There's no sign-up, nothing to install, and your statement never leaves your phone.
